Default MIM: Musical Instrument Museum, Phoenix, AZ.

^^^ I was watching Rock and Roll Roadtrip today with Sammy Hagar and he was (before COVID) at the MIM in Phoenix. Looks like a great place. I noticed there is apparently an entire mandolin-family section there (see upper right hand side of attached pic). This place is on my list to visit when life gets back to life. Anyone ever been?

Great place. Plan lots of time if you’re curious about all kinds of instruments, like maybe more than one day.

I moved away from Phoenix several years ago, but while there MIM was a constant source of great entertainment for two reasons: 1) the UNBELIEVABLE and huge rotating collection of instruments and 2) the small, intimate theatre which brings in PHENOMENAL musicians from all over the world. It is by far the best entertainment venue I have ever been too. We attended concerts almost monthly. It is a great, great place!

A really fascinating place. On of my favorite exhibits consists of automated orchestras. Sort of like carousel music machines on steroids. A few years ago there was a huge exhibit of insanely detailed inlaid instruments, mostly guitars. Lots of videos featuring the artists. Spent hours viewing.

Three of my favorites were the Afri-can guitar, the Peter Coombe mandolin, and the air guitar. Allow at least 2 days to see most of it when it reopens.......

    It is AWESOME and huge!

At least 2 days to fully take it all in.

They had a very cool special exhibit that traced the history of the electric guitar when I was there.
