Default Old Time Jamming/music around east Dallas Tx

My wife and I are planning to relocate to Garland, TX (East Dallas) in June. We are looking for old time jams, or other opportunities to play. We know about the old time jam at the Heritage Village in Dallas, but are hoping there are more opportunities in the area.

    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

That’s the one that caught my eye, Richard. I corresponded and made plans to attend - just as the virus got started. Hope to be a part of it soon.

I don't know if it's still going on, but for a long time they used to have a Monthly or weekly (I'm not sure which) jam on the Garland town square. I went once about a decade ago and it was a really fun time. No doubt the current public health situation has impacted that, but I would love to hear if it's still going on. My sister lives in east Dallas near White Rock lake, and I'm sure I'll get another opportunity to pop out there sometime if it is.

Mark G. - My grandmother was born in Palmer and I have more distant ancestors buried around there and Ennis. One of these days I really need to stop off on my way up to Dallas.

Update - It looks like there's a jam in Garland still on the schedule. I'd be amazed if it happens given the situation, but it's still going on out there. They are probably more bluegrass oriented than old time, but I can't say for certain.

Hey Joe, maybe we could sit and pick a little if you get over this way.

My wife and I have been to the OT jam at Heritage Village a couple of times when we visited family in the Dallas area. It was a good jam. Folks were friendly, and welcoming. If I recall correctly, there were about 10 musicians with a good selection of instruments.

I normally play clawhammer banjo, but am getting better on the mando. My song list for the mando is now on the north side of 30 songs that I can usually handle OK. We currently organize a bi-weekly OT jam here in Williamsburg VA. We have about 40 names on our distribution list, but we normally get 12-15 to come at any one time. We would be interested in starting a new OT jam in Texas. It would probably be in north Garland near Firewheel Town Center. Anyone who is interested, please respond to this post.

Richard, I live south of town, otherwise I'd commit to that.

    Mark,
I know it would be a hike, but we would love to meet and play some tunes with you. We'll let you know when we get to town and get settled.

Well, we have made it to Texas, and are bored silly sitting in a hotel waiting for our household goods to arrive. Anyone out there want to jam? We are in a hotel in Rockwall.

Well, we finally got moved into our new apartment up near Firewheel Town Center. Still bored to death, but looking forward to the Dallas old time jam starting up again on June 20th. If there is anyone up in this neck of the woods who wants to jam sooner, please reach out to us. We can probably play in our common room here at the apartment.
