Beautiful and Rare Gibson Tenor (NFI) (Owned by Dawg!)
Hey guys, I thought this might be worth posting here. I came across this tenor last summer in a small bar/guitar shop in Portland, OR called "Strum."
I had very little experience with tenors at the time, so take my description with a grain of salt, but I remember it playing very smoothly--very easy action, the sound was round and warm, with wonderful resonance. If I recall correctly, it had just received a professional set up before entering the shop (I'm sure the shop owner would be happy to verify, because again it's been a year by now.) Not the loudest tenor I have ever played, but the quality of the notes had something very special that I did not find in the Blueridge or Ibanez guitars I played the same day (obviously, we're talking a very different price range).
Also, in case it's not visible in the photos, it has an arched top.
Anyway, I went back to the Strum website yesterday, realizing it'd be nearly a year since I played this guitar. Well, turns out it's still in the store. And I won't be in the market for a new tenor anytime soon. So, with the idea of both spreading the love here on the Café and supporting a local Portland business during a difficult time, I thought I should post it here in case anyone is looking for beautiful, rare tenor.
Plus, it was owned by the one and only David Grisman!
