Haven't tried it, but Garage Band for iOS looks like what you want.

Spire is easy to use and functions wonderfully. Simple to look at too, which is nice.

Can You use Spire with no additional hardware? I.e., with just the phone mic and the app? Everything I read about it refers to the additional Spire system hardware.

No additional hardware needed. I use it with the phone mic and app only.
