Default Is this mandolin beyond repairing?

    Hi,

He had this mandolin hanging as a decoration for years (we have another, working mandolin). It has a very badly cracked body but I was wondering if it would be possible or even worth it to repair.

Nothing is beyond repairing, the real question is your second one; is it worth repairing?.
Instrument of low market value can often cost more to repair then their market value. Of course there ore other value systems in play sometimes, and sometimes sentimental value takes over. As the owner, it is your decision. Nobody can accurately estimate the repair cost from internet pictures, but if you take it to a qualified repair person you can get a price range and then make your decision.

Are you planning on doing it yourself?
You would learn a lot just in the careful disassembling process.
It looks like the hardware is still intact, are the tuners functional?
I would think of it as a learning experience. You could probably make it playable, but you couldn’t increase its value very munch.

Oh no, I don't have the skills. I get nervous fitting a new strap lock to my guitar.

Thanks, sunburst, that's what I figured. It doesn't hold much sentimental value so I think I'll just polish it up and rehang it.
