    Default 1914/15 Gibson A

Does anyone out there recognise this http://www.mandolinarchive.com/gibson/serial/23871

I’d like to trace its history and, being so distinctive (pickup and signature), somebody out there must recognise it.

    Thanks
    Ray

You could contact Elderly. They probably have an archive of all the instruments they sold. Sometimes you can find the sold pages still on the site but hidden without links.

Yes, may well do but I doubt they’d tell me who they sold it to or from whom they acquired it.

The instrument eventually washed up in the UK and I bought it, sans signature, ten or more years ago. The dealer was very surprised when I asked him what had happened to the signature! I can’t go back to him as he (allegedly) drank himself to death shortly afterwards.

Just thought that someone on the Cafe might recognise it. If nobody does, it’s not really important.
