Tim is a National Treasure
Tim's old Nugget used to have a big white spot where his finger had worn away the finish;
Looks like he's had it touched up
But Amsterdam was always good for grieving
And London never fails to leave me blue
And Paris never was my kinda town
So I walked around with the Ft. Worth Blues

That was really cool! As a songwriter myself, I enjoyed hearing how he has come up with his ideas for some of the songs. Very inspiring...I think I better grab pen, paper and mando and start working on some new ideas of my own.

Listening to TIm O'Brien he put in word a main reason I have collected the mandolin instruments I have other than pure MAS. I find that different instruments spur not only different styles of play, but also different styles of writing. When I pick up the Ellis grass comes into my play. Pick up the Mowry GOM and slower more melodic styles come to play. The Hester opens many genres. The Collings fiddle tunes. The Martin, English folk and Irish. The Nyberg lends itself to Gypsy and other folk music. An while there is definitely overlap, there is a feel that each gives. I try to explain this to my wife and she just smiles a knowing smile then laughs. She ain't buying it. Thanks Tim for expressing something I thought but never expressed that well.
