    Default RIP Kenny Rogers

Back when he was first starting out, before they became Kenny Rogers and The First Edition. This was the first I heard of him when this hit the radio in the 60's.

I met him several times when I was a kid because he was a regular at a local place. He was nice, as I remember.

Back in 1998 or so I was driving down a desert highway somewhere in New Mexico. I got behind a nice RV with “The Gambler’s Roost” written on the back in a fancy custom paint job. When I passed it I looked over and a smiling Kenny Rogers was driving the RV. He flashed me a smile and we exchanged a hearty wave.
