Hi all!
I've been off this website for a while, but some of you might know I am working at a comprehensive (can't say "complete" in this type things, really ) discography of small-label Blue Grass singles 1946-1958. I am reaching a stage of relative completion, even though several gaps still remain. Here's one of them!
I'm sure you all have heard those Jimmie Osborne King recordings that feature an extremely tasteful mandolin player.
If not, here's some of them:

Does anyone recognize his style? Who could it be?
Two mandolin players that come to mind that were associated with King were Jethro Burns and Ernest Ferguson. I did talk to Ernest's son and his father never mentioned taking part in these recordings - so it's likely someone else. Could this be Jethro's take on a more old-timey style (as he did with Grandpa Jones, or on a couple of tracks with Wade Mainer)?
Or could it be a musician that was working with Jimmie Osborne at the time? It seems he worked most of his radio and show dates as a solo artist, which makes it extremely hard to find who his associates at the time might have been...
Does anyone have more insight?
Thanks so much!
Matt.
