We don't get much Roger Miller on the forum. Here's his advice for times like this. I read somewhere that this was his favourite song of all that he'd written. If the links don't work, search YouTube for "Walkin' In The Sunshine - Roger Miller".

And here's one from 2014. Clearly, social distance wasn't the issue during that epidemic, nor was the Ebola crisis as widespread or close to home. If the links don't work, search YouTube for "Quarantine With Brad & Carrie".

Apparently Steve Martin posted this on Twitter while self-isolating.

I remember the chickens on the muppet show when he did that!
I saw the Steve Martin clip the other day, made me start thinking of getting out the old Washburn and getting back into old timey banjo a little.

That would surely keep people away from you, probably a good idea.

Roger that! I brought out the one I use for clawhammer, put it in sawmill tuning, and gave the finches and robins in my backyard a few songs that kinda fit the mood.

Here is what Paul Simon offered a few days ago. A song from other troubled times in America echoing the great Bach.

Elder Curry with Elder Charles Beck on piano. Commentators are divided as to whether this song relates to an influenza outbreak in Memphis in 1929 or is harking back to the Spanish Flu pandemic of 1919.

    Blind Willie Johnson.
This one is definitely about the Spanish Flu.

Well ghouls and boyz, are you ready to "pull the trigger" yet?

Artie Shaw's 1940 version of this is so much better than the 1941 cover by Billie Holiday

Though these are tough times, I don't find them all that bleak -- though I might if things get bad enough. During my childhood, we used to hide under the school desks in case of nuclear holocaust, and I've lived through many troubles since, though nothing compared to what my grandparents survived with senses of humour intact. Still, whatever gets you through the night is fine with me. And I always love to hear "Time Has Come Today" -- I remember the first time I heard it in the 60's.
