    Default Social Distancing

Remember stay at least 6 feet from a banjo player———at all times.

That is easy. But when he leaves his instrument on a chair and it falls over - resisting the urge to catch it takes practise.

That leads to the question if it is still advisable to give your instrument to somebody else in the jam or session for trying out.

Been trying to get some social distancing myself by going out on my fast mountain hikes.
I’m exercising the old heart and lungs, nothing better to do.
Trouble is, the mountain trails are now packed with loads people all with the same idea, they don’t even want to ride in cars anymore.
They’re all chatting and laughing, everyone saying hello, and wishing me a pleasant day!
What is wrong with these people?!

-next thing, with all their free time they’ll be wanting to learn to play banjo!
    Hard times.

Take up the pipes - bagpipes, Uilleann pipes, or Swedish sackpipa. You will be socially distanced and isolated. At least until you learn them.

Social distancing has never been a problem for me . . . because when you're ugly, not-too-smart and have no money, nobody wants to hang out with you to begin with!

I never knew Salt Spring was disliked, have never heard anyone say a thing about it.

    News to me.

Given all the TP is being hoarded, if I run out I don't think I'll have an issue keeping people 6' or further away.

Wagon Wheel is one of the few songs I truly dislike, that and that Carlos Santana tune (smooth?) over exposure can kill a song for me.

Did you notice that the uilleann pipes player in the video had a banjo leaning next to him, and an accordion on top of the piano? Betcha he's got a bodhran and a set of spoons stashed somewhere -- all the tools needed to alienate everyone within earshot...

A mandolin version of that might be a good task for quarantine time, though. That would be interesting.

I'm not volunteering myself. Apparently I'm still going to work next week.

I actually have had a room mate that played pipes as well as another who played banjo. Now my wife plays accordion and also viola. For me it is more like St. Cuthbert near Durham* - pietat quaesumus

I have to be nice to people at work. At home, I prefer to be left alone to do my own things. I don't particularly dislike people, but I am a loner by nature. Social distancing is no problem for me.

There are plenty of ways of keeping oneself socially distant, making use of all that TP AND protecting oneself

I don't intend to alter my social interaction as I have practiced for 73 years.
Arms length at minimum has been my "social distancing".. now happily increased.
Solitude is my preferred contact with the world at large.

My completely fenced 11 1/2 acres now seems too small.

I very much enjoy the sound of sakpipa ( particularly the original tuning of Eb.) and do own Scots made GHB dated around 1915-1920.

I'm in the middle of 60 acres, 5 miles from the closest settlement. Two miles from my closest neighbor. I sympathsize with urban folk.

That's exactly how the weekend felt here, in Europe's largest urban area. You don't need miles to make a distance.

As a recovering Uilleann piper from many years ago, I cam attest that even after you learn to play, you still are somewhat isolated haha.
