Default Just changed my strings. Need to replace leather string damper

So does the leather strip go over course one and under course two, or over and under each individual string, which seems difficult to do? Thanks. I know there may be no official method, but I was wondering what people find most effective.

If you have a stamped tailpiece simply slide it under the cover, it is out of sight and works just as well.

Up through the G pair, down through the D, and so on. In between each string pair. Frustrating to get, but it works.

But mostly I do like pops1 suggests and slide it under the cover.

I already have the leather that came with the mando, so I'll use that. The grommets are next.

The way I wrapped the leather shoestring on my Godin. ( was at band practice and stage lights changed. Actually kinda like the color) The ends are tucked back between the outside string sets.

A stamped Gibson tail piece .. I lay a strip of leather under all 8 as it exits the edge, *
and stuck on a piece of felt under the cover..
After then, not removing more than 1 string @ a time, the leather lace strip never moves..
