    Smile New Tenor Guitar Day

I’m trying to post an image of my new pristine, minty (sarcasm, except for the weird hole in the top and the overall wear and mojo) 1935 Gibson TG-50. I found it at Fiddler’s Green in Austin today. I have an impulse control problem when I go there. Anyway, it’s in GDAE, and is very loud and gorgeous sounding. It came with a cheap non-original cardboard case. Any advice on a reasonable hard shell alternative?

Congrats! I have a 36 Kalamazoo TG that I also got not too long ago and after much back and forth, have settled on liking gdae tuning best too. Enjoy your find.

The Kalamazoo is pretty much the same guitar, isn’t it?

IIRC Kalamazoos are pressed into an arch like Harmonys whereas Gibsons are carved solid tops.

My ‘36 Kalamazoo TG is a flat top sunburst.

    Hi Verne,

Picked this up on another forum. I don't own the book so I can't verify.

(Paraphrasing) According to Gruhn's Guide to Vintage Guitars, some were carved, and some were pressed, depending on the model. ...If the back is mahogany, then it's pressed. If the back is maple, it's carved.

    Hope you are well,
    Huck
