Who has good information on where to drill to insert the steam needle to soften the glue on a Flatiron A-style?

Mike, if you remove the fretboard, you will see the neck joint. Early Flatirons had bolts in the neck. Pull the end pin and look in from there. If it has bolts, you will have to remove them first.

OK....the real story is that I had the neck replaced and the joint is failing. I can remove the fretboard since the neck I'm making will have a wider 1 1/4" nut and I will not be using that FB on the new neck. No indication from the dude who did the work that there were bolts, but..... the neck is pulling forward and there is a not quite 1/16" gap between the body and the bottom of the heel. I bought this new in about 1990 or so, I think.
