    I have seen very many kinds of "butterfly" pickguards, but this design leaves me almost speechless. Bling OD, I'd say.

    I am unsure about its exact age, however, going by the listing pictures, I am fairly certain that the mandolin was put together by someone who had limited instrument building skills.

    That question crossed my mind too, although I am leaning to inlaid.
