Same as for any other A or 2-point.

Can we assume it came with a strap button on the heel?

I believe Will has a list of acceptable straps on his website. There could be real problems if you were to choose an unacceptable strap for your Kimble. It's not quite as bad as using a capo on a mandolin but it's very close.

Actually, Will doesn't have a list.

Neither of my Kimbles have “authorised” straps, I got the nice people at Pinegrove to make them (NFI). The fact that Will’s non-scroll mandolins come with a strap button, in my mind, settles the argument as to whether you should put a button on the heel.

You, perhaps, can punch 2 holes in an old leather belt from a charity shop?

I just ordered one from the Mandolin Store for my Model 1, which has a strap button on the neck. I'll let you know how I like it when it gets here.

Make sure that plastic buckle thing doesn't lie against any lacquered surface. Vinyl and lacquer don't mix.

Reporting back! My Henry Heller A Mandolin Strap - Black, arrived today from The Mandolin Store. I couldn't be happier! It's a simple flat strap comprising two pieces of leather (no metal, no plastic, no nothing unnatural). It's adjusted by means of an ingenious bit of velcro between where the two pieces of leather touch. Not only is it a breeze to adjust, but you can get it *just right*. And super easy to fine-tune if you end up playing gig with a jacket or sweater or something that put the mandolin up higher against you than you prefer. Perfect for the A model with a strap button on the neck. I'm on my way back to TMS to see if they have the same thing in an F model.

I have one made by Alan David German at Mandolin Straps of Montana http://www.mandolinstrapsofmontana.com/ I attach mine to the headstock, just behind the nut. It seems to like my Kimble and have been together just over 5 years now.
