    My favorite electric is the Gibson EM200 Florentine from the mid 50's to late 60's. Hard to beat that old sound with the P90 pickup.

    It might just be me, but I can't see spending two or three grand on a practice instrument.

    Thanks pals! A kind chap saw my question and offered me his used Alden Mandocaster! I'll make a new post with some pics once it arrives, hopefully tomorrow!

    I'm a fan of Jon Mann (Manndolins). I have a 5 string and 8 string from him. I prefer the 5 string by far as the 8 tends to have a phased sound to it. I tune the 5 string to have a high B (so it's GDAEB) which I prefer over a low C (which gets muddled IMO).
