    Hi, welcome to the group. I'm not familiar with that model, and I didn't find much online either, but there are a few references to the Alcivar guitars, it seems the are more readily available in Canada than the US.

    The biggest issues we see with some retail mandolins is that the final set up (adjustment of the string height, bridge etc.) was not done correctly. But if your mandolin is in the ballpark, it should be a playable instrument. If not, then you'll need to take it to a professional. Bowlbacks have a slightly different sound than F holes, but you can play any music on any mandolin.

    The big question is not what we think, but what do you think? If you're happy with your purchase, that is all that really matters.
