Default If you always wanted one of those sunfish style mandolins

If you always wanted one of those sunfish style mandolins there is one that is currently on eBay and over-priced in my opinion. It is here.

We've seen a few here over the years. You can see them here.

I would love to have a modern maker make a non-all birch one that probably sounds good. I love oddballs, as you all know. And I bet this one would sound quite funky and to my liking. OTOH... take a look at that top—someone must have loved it and played the son of a birch.

Looking at the two I can't help but see the early Simpsons (Tracey Ullman Show) and the tamed down later Simpsons drawing. Brash and then smoothed out and less likely to offend.

If I wanted a "fish" mandolin, it would be one Bill Bussman designed some years ago. His instruments are legend, even the conventional ones.

a local country music mini star asked a lutheir friend of mine to make him a lobster shaped guitar. (we are on canada's east coast where we have much better lobster than maine lobster--the colder the water the better the taste). so my lutheir friend said, if you pay me i'll make it. look up frasier newcome and his lobster guitar.

the body isn't very big to accomodate the lobster claws and tail, but with the pick up and plugged in it doesn't matter for the local novelty crowd.

Heard that bussguy makes an entire family of fishy instruments, musta just scaled up from mandolin. Appropriate only for marina gigs, IMHO!

There are some that might take exception to the belief that the crawlers taste better a few miles to the north!

I'm still debating with myself as to whether or not I like the fish bass - but, I suppose that if I saw it hanging in the pawn shop for $100, I'd buy it . . . .
