    Default I built 2 F5s and a custom 3 point

Hello Cafe. My name is Jacob Hagerty and I have been addicted to building mandolins for 4 years now, although its still a hobby. I have completed 6 mandolins so far and #7 is under way. I started with an IV F5 kit (lacquer), then did a StewMac Kit F5 (lacquer), and # 3,4,5,6 (varnish) were from scratch. Im also proud to say #4(torch and wire) and #6(blonde 3 point) now live in Wichita, KS. More pictures are available on Facebook, Hagerty Mandolins. I just want to give a shout out to the cafe and all the folks out there who have been extremely encouraging along the way. The information and community available here is priceless. Thank you Scott!

A ShoutOut to these folks too for all their help and continued encouragement.

Those look great, Jacob! Thanks for sharing. I finished one F5 so far, and I'm starting on 2, 3 and 4 now. You give me hope that a little ol' hobbyist can actually be successful at this!

I got to play the one Jacob had with him last weekend along with his #2. They sound really great--lots of punch and power along with a good thunk of the wood in the tone too. Very nice build quality and detail work too. Fun picking on them! Better put Jacob on your luthier watch list.

Beautiful! I hope to join that club soon,... major shop renovations are currently underway to help that cause.

I’m on number two, but in no hurry. I’d encourage anyone interested in attempting a build to give it a try. You can buy roughed out parts, a kit or build from scratch. I’m no wiz at woodworking, but built an instrument that while aesthetically challenged, is really quite a good sounding mandolin. So if you have time but not 5k, give it a go.

I 've been lucky enough to have played them all and these are top notch mandolins made by a really great human being!

The three point was particularly seductive.
