Here's the original, for those who haven't seen it yet. Great song!

Gelsenbury, First of all, great job! Secondly, so wonderful a gift. It touched my heart to be covered by you, my friend. Update: After they brought me back on a ventelator and with the trach and feeding tube (PEG) I am in skilled rehab and can’t wait to go home. My dear wife is learning how to care for me and I for myself. I had a set back requiring a replacement feeding tube surgery and So far so good. Big picture? They brought me back and even with the trach and PEG I may lead a somewhat normal life, which will include music!!!

Hey Dan, as a retired RN, I helped folks with breathing and eating issues. This is the time for rest, reading and maybe playing when you get your strength up. We’re rooting for you buddy!
    Take care of yourself.

Dan, just wanted to say that I really enjoyed the song of yours that was posted. I was also struck by how eerily similar our guitar styles are. Many of the little accents you were doing, and your overall style and approach in general, is almost exactly the way I play. Get rest, read some good books, and post an update when you can. All the best from Texas.

Dear Mandolin Friends, I am now home and getting stronger each day. Walking with a walker, fed through a tube and a tracheostomy in my trachea, but I am full of gratitude to be alive! I am enjoying gradually getting callouses built back up on my left hand in order to play my instruments. My angel of a wife is taking care of me 16 hours a day and I am so blessed to have her in my life. Now, to look at the Classifieds... hmmm...

Thanks all of your friendship, thoughts, prayers and well wishes! I read each and every one and watched the videos you shared links to, as well. You are all marvelous people, but of course, you are mandolin players after all! Much appreciation and affection, Dan Brooks

Thanks for the update, Dan. This is great news. I am sure your upbeat attitude despite what you are going through is a real inspiration to the Cafe community. Thank you for continuing to keep us informed. And thank you for continuing to play!

If this community and your playing have helped you during this challenging time, and I believe they have, it is a real testament to the value of music in our lives. This makes all the work we put into our music worth it, and informs us as to why we should encourage the next generation to play.

Best wishes for your continuing gain in strength. And congratulations on having such a great wife!

Really good news Dan, stronger every day.
And just in time, the Song a Week Social Group’s tune this week is ‘Three little Birds’ by Bob Marley if you’re interested
(Just joking, hope you’re well enough to sing it soon though!)

Playing music again is a huge healing benefit and such a mental uplift. I used playing as a reward for all the less fun things I did in recovery.

And you as well, Caleb. I appreciated your comment about our guitar styles having similarities. That is a compliment to me!
