Default Kentucky 4 string electric on Goodwill

Obviously, NFI. Over in the electric forum these get mixed reviews (the pickup is too hot, from what I can remember). But might be a way for someone to try out an electric: https://www.shopgoodwill.com/Item/84795096

Why would the bridge need to be grounded? No electricity goes through the strings (except my electric personality).

Noise, the bridge, or the tailpiece, is usually grounded. I would think here they would ground the tailpiece.
