Default Andrew Marlin "Cody Road" Artist Session at GMBR

I am not sure that too many "session" type videos exist out there for Andrew Marlin's solo effort tunes off Buried in a Cape...so I am sharing this session we filmed at this past year's Green Mountain Bluegrass & Roots Festival in Manchester, Vermont.

Mandolin Orange had just gotten offstage to close out the fest and Andrew ran over to ask if we could film something quick in the green room (I had been filming official artist sessions all weekend for the fest).

He quickly taught Dom Leslie the melody and Josh Oliver and Clint Mullican from MO and Christian Sedelmyer joined him for this take on "Cody Road". A tune that was inspired by a nearby place that close friends own...

    Enjoy!

Thanks, that was a treat! Love the tune. Some nice close up shots too of Andrew and Dom picking those fine mandos.

He sure did. Its one of the 14 tracks off of his instrumental record "Buried in a Cape".

Thanks for this. I love that he "just taught it to Dom" and off they went.

Anyone have the chord progression for Cody Road (besides Andrew and the band!)?

My buddy and I do it like a pretty straight forward progression in E minor. Honestly, Andrew and the band's version is likely more complex, but I've come to accept the fact that I am no Andrew Marlin.

    A part is: I / I / IV / I :|

    and B part is IV / I / IV / V (7) / I / I / IV V / I

Thanks redlineroots, appreciate it. There is a road out of Cody, Wyoming to Yellowstone, wonder if that was the inspiration for the tune?

It’s actually a road in Vermont. Friends of his who founded and produce the festival the video was shot at have a home there...so this song choice was very fitting for the artist session!
