Thread: Way Western North Carolina jams

Default Way Western North Carolina jams

I live in Murphy NC, about 15/20 minutes from Tenn border. Wondered if there were any get togethers, or even teachers close by. Asheville, Chattanooga and Atlanta are a full 2 hours away so that's too far.

    Thanks

Kaufmann Kamp is at Maryville in Tennessee. Keith Yoder lives near there. He is affiliated with the Kamp and an excellent instructor. He says there are a lot of jams up in that area. It may be almost as far as Asheville though.

There used to be a jam at Clay's Corner in Brasstown on Friday nights. I know that Clay closed the store, but heard the someone may have started the jam sessions again. Worth checking out to see if that is the case.

Clay has reopened his store for Friday jams, I was there back in October. Not many folks there but some of the local kids were good pickers. They also have jams at JCCFS (the Folk School) some times. There are pickers around there as I know a bunch having taught there for over a decade.
