Default Poe #75 pancake in classifieds

Someone buy this, it’s gorgeous. I’m perfectly happy with my Beavertail, but a Poe pancake is one of the flattop mandolins I most want to try. The Poe pancake videos, for example #60, sound fantastic, IMO. It’s hard to tell from a video, but I think it sounds quite a bit like my Beavertail, perhaps just a slightly brighter tone.

Sorry everyone, I had four offers in less than 24 hours. Sold it to a very happy local player this afternoon. I guess I'll have to change my avatar now.

I contributed 2% of the asking price to MandolinCafe today. The buyer got a little better deal for being local and paying with cash.

I also sent the buyer the names of the other interested parties (with their permission) in case he has buyer's remorse or wants to move the Poe Scout some time down the line.

I was so tempted when I saw it last night, but it’s not the best time for me to buy an instrument. I’m sure it will be easy to sell if the buyer changes his mind. Anyone know why Andy hasn’t been offering instruments for several years now? I emailed him a year or more ago, but didn’t hear back. That was a good time for me.

Looks like Poe #75 was the last one profiled on Andrew's site.......

What a beauty, the new owner must be thrilled.

Seems like Andrew is catching up on back orders and plans to build what he wants on spec.

A nice man named Aidan contacted me to say he had #76 and that Andy has not updated the website.

David, the buyer of #75 had a build planned with Andy that ended up falling through. He hadn’t heard from Andy either.

So best wishes to Andy and hope he is doing well whether building or not. He was a pleasure to work with and definitely still has demand for his instruments.

He hasn’t updated the website in several years. I emailed him twice, several months apart, and didn’t get a response. People seem very happy with his instruments and all the pancakes are gorgeous visually. The last builds he seemed to be excited about were his mandoquins.

Aidan’s handle here on the Cafe is MoreThanQuinn. His Scout (#76) and your former one (#75) are the only two after my own (#74) that I know to have been built.

Like others, I tried to get in touch with Andy when one of his F5’s (#17, I believe) was on the market, but I too got not response. Apparently the shop ultimately did, however.

    Hi Pat,

I’m glad you still have your Poe Scout. My old one is in good hands now. I’m mainly an electric guitar player these days.

    Best regards,
    Don
