Default McClung armrest to match Phoenix pick guard

    Hi,

I’m still waiting for my new (to me) Phoenix standard to arrive, and I’ve been checking out arm rests in the meantime. I have a McClung for my other mandolin and really like it, so I’d like to get another. The problem is it’s hard to tell from internet photos which version to get as far as color, since they all seem to differ slightly.

Does anyone here have a Phoenix with an ebony McClung that matches the color of the pick guard? If so, do you remember which version you bought?

As far as I can tell (just from pics) the Phoneix pick guard seems to have some traces of brown color in it- for those of you who have one is that correct?

Bonus question: does a standard size Tone Gard fit the instrument?

    Thanks for any advice!

    Peace,
    Jim

Send a photo to Doug Edwards (McClung maker). He'll be able to guide you.

Doug custom finished an otp McClung to match my Eastman 515. You can see it sporting a ToneGard and a Bailey Long Hollow Softy. For some reason the upload won't orient properly. I welcome an admin to fix if if so inclined.

Yes, a Tone Guard fits very well.
