Default 2 Laplant mandolins with new EVO frets

I took these two Laplant mandolins to Steve Hinde to have him radius the fingerboards and refret them with EVO frets. He also modified the orginal bridge bases to make them full contact. After Steve worked his magic I think they have an increase in projection and sustain and play very easily. He also repaired a finish issue I caused with one of those humidifier hose things. I couldn't be happier. Here are some sound clips to give an idea of the tone. Recored with my Tascam DR-07 MKII from about 2 feet away. Number 6 is on the bottom and number 106 is on the top of the picture.

Gorgeous mandolins, G. Fisher. Do you know if Mr. LaPlant made any A model mandolins? I had the chance to try an F model two years back and it was very nice, but I am not a fan of the scroll, so only use A models.

Lloyd has made a few a styles. Along with my F I had him build me an A style back in 1984. It is a cedar top (by request) he made a spruce top A style at the same so we could compare tone. It has been a hard working mando and is on a number of albums I've done studio work on. Sweet tone.
You can see it on the "Eye Candy" page..

I met Lloyd a few years ago at SPGMA. He is a gentleman in every sense of the word!

Very nice recording. And, yes, Lloyd is a great person. As well as being one of the best builders out there.
