Well, I took a chance and bought the used Loar LM-400 in the classifieds from Elderly and It arrived today. It was made in May of 2012. After a few hours to settle, opened it and I am very pleased so far. Can't find a mark on it anywhere. Fret wear is barely noticeable. Neck seems good. String heighth at 12th fret is 3/32. Intonation seems pretty good. I bought a set of D'Addario's as the strings do need changing. It's loud when you dig into it. If there was anything, the tuners are a little stiff unless it's just me and mandolins. And it came with a Superior case that is in pretty darn good condition. It's getting late so I'll post pics subsequently. Pleased with Elderly's service as well. Hopefully I'll cut my teeth on this one better than the last attempt and be on my mandolin way.
