    Default Mike Black A4

I have been a long time admirer of Mike Black’s A4. I love the oval hole sound but my A-0, a previous A Jr all have had “vintage issues” etc. In September, Mike posted on FB that he had a nearly completed A4 that was for sale. As a long time admirer it was time to “fish or cut bait”.

It arrived 2 days ago. I love it. Truly beautiful, it plays very nicely. I was very surprised at the volume when playing open chords too.

It is much more instrument that I am player.Click image for larger version.

That there is a right proper mandolin! I love that the headstock isn’t bound ~ very elegant.

    Play it in good health

    Hindsight is 20/20 !
My two favorite pastimes are drinking wine and playing the mandolin but most of my friends would rather hear me drink wine! Adapted from quote by Mark Twain------supposedly !

Beautiful instrument. Really captures the spirit of the old oval holes.

Ah, that makes more sense. I’d hate to see my A2-z’s blonde littermate orphaned.

Hey Bucket, did Mike install a Virzi on your A4? This video made me a believer:
