    Default NMD Eastman 305

    Hello gang,
I have been lurking here with a few questions. I am a veteran guitar player, trying to learn mandolin with my 16 year old. I bought a Loar 310, but returned it. My BIL let us borrow his 1914 Gibson A Oval, but I wanted something I dont have to worry about. The F lust is strong, but I cant afford anything else , so I blindly bought this 2012 Eastman MD 305 from a GC in OK. It arrived today in a Golden Gate case! This was a bonus because I had already had an Eastman bag from the TMS $15 deal and I was wondering what I was going to do with two bags. Glad to be a part of the group now.
    Thanks,

    Nick in Houston

I had a stretch where I was traveling for business every few months. I stuck my mandolin in my gig bag and took it with me. It was a great way to get practice time in. I still use it sometimes when we go on family road trips. It's great that your making music with your child. My daughters don't play mandolin (perhaps yet), but I enjoy playing other instruments with them.

Sorry B381! I lost an MD 315 at GC a few weeks back. It was in my cart, but just could not hit Enter.

Congrats! Enjoy the heck out of it. I don't know much, but if you were to have questions, my word this is the right place to ask

Also, I LOVE that you're doing this with your son. So cool!

I had both a 305 and a 304 about six or seven mandolins ago. Great mandolins for the price. Decent tone, very good play ability provided proper set up, durable, and the nice clean look you can only get with an A style.
I wish I still had my 304. Sold it to a drummer from a once nationally known band wanting to learn mandolin.
    Enjoy!

You made a great choice. Have fun with it! So glad you are making music with your 16 year old. What a great thing to keep the bond strong as the teen years really kick in! Congratulations to you.

Congratulations! That’s an excellent first mandolin that will serve you well for as long as you can contain your MAS...

I recently sold my 315 as part of a downsizing effort. It was my beater/travel mandolin (even though I don’t think it had a scratch or ding anywhere other then the headstock). I have no doubt that I’ll miss it the next time I take an extended trip...

That's a fine instrument that could easily be a lifetime keeper. Play it in good health.
