Hi,
I am in the market for an octave mandolin. I have a mandolin made by the luthier Phil Davidson (phenomenal) and heard about Ashbury - which he designs - recently. I have been looking at the Ashbury E-style octave mandola on the hobgoblin website. This was recommended to me by an expert. Apparently hobgoblin ship worldwide so I would be able to purchase one in Australia. I can provide a link but am not sure about forum rules.
I want an octave mandolin which has the same tuning as a normal mandolin (GDAE). My understanding is that Mandolas have a different tuning. Does anyone know whether this product is actually an octave mandolin and simply called an ‘octave mandola’ due to a different naming convention?
Cheers,
Derp
