I've searched for info on an f5 point protector. What do I need to use?

Wow, I've been getting away with dovetails all these years...
I like ivoroid for corners with ivoroid bindings. It melds to the binding, it resists bumps, is not easily knocked off of the instrument, doesn't chip, holds finish well... in short, it looks traditional and it does it's job and holds up well.

You know it's not about what works (there are few more things on old F-5's thta could be done better), it's all about what originals have, some folks would even use the toothpaste that Loar used were the brand known to us...
It's interesting that they had ivoroid and used it on lower models, but F-5 got the precious material just because it was the flagship.
