    Default Mazzacarra Lucia model mandolin

Does anyone, in addition to August Waters, with whom I have conversed, have experience with and/or opinions on Carlo Mazzaccara’s Lucia model mandolins? Thank you in advance.

Not directly. Carlo is active and responsive on Facebook.

Thank you Eugene, but I stopped Facebook last summer after my account was hacked and do not want to resume.

Understood. Carlo also has some videos of him building posted to YouTube. I have no reason to suspect the quality of his work, but he does make some decisions regarding aesthetic and restoration that don't always meet my personal tastes. As alluded, I've never handled one of his own pieces in person.

Yes, the carbon fiber and arm rests on his restorations are a surprise - but functionality/longevity is apparently his aim. The new Lucia models are a different ball game. I have heard only very positive remarks about the Lucia models and no criticism.

If you have not been following Carlo's sites, his more recent builds have been the Classico A style. He has also been building mandolins and mandoloncello from the mozzani school. Currently he is working on building a German style mandolin.

The price on the Classico A's is considerably higher and I am not sure if that higher price significantly changes sound / playability. I will research the "Mozzani" school as I know nothing about it - though that mandolin intrigues me.
