    Default i love playing mandolin

i have had health problems on and off for several years. i felt awfull much of today, but when i got home i pulled out four favourite mandolins and played them all back and forth, and it made my day. i love playing mandolin. i spent some time on old tunes looking for good places to add triplets, and tried to figure out some new tunes and played a few as i always have, and i love playing mandolin.

Thank heavens for music and our instruments - they're my saving grace. Nothing, I've found, is as a musical instrument.

Best of wellness and beauty to you!

I love the mandolin too. It swept me off my guitar feet years ago, its sweet sound gave wings to my song.

Last year I had two relatively minor surgeries which kept me off my feet for the better part of 2 months - and my mandolins were my constant companion for the entire time . . . including times when I was too weak and/or tired to get out of bed to put them away, when I would even sleep with a mandolin by my side.

As a matter of fact, all of the videos on my YouTube page (link below) were recorded during those recovery periods. Obviously. the surgeries were not fun, but thanks in large part to to my mandolins, I have some fond memories of my recovery time.

Fell in love with mandolin a few years back and just love it for learning melody. I keep a soprano uke in mandolin tuning for quiet mando practice.

I'm currently recovering from knee surgery and playing my mandolin and tenor banjo are the two things that get my mind off everything when I'm feeling low.

My mom always tells me how she likes the sunny and happy sound. I guess it just makes us feel that way! The best medicine is definitely a mandolin!

    Hi Jill,

Sorry to learn of your surgery. I hope you are back to 100% soon. In the meantime, I hope you are having lots of Girouard therapy!

    Best wishes,

    Bob

Achilles Tendon surgery has me less mobile with a waling boot up to my knee so I have had more time to practice ! My wife will sure be glad when I recover so I can leave the confines of our house as she is tired of me going over and over and over of difficult parts of a tune !

I sustained wrist (L) injury 4 weeks ago and am only now getting the fdl out again. The only instruments I've been able to play during the past month are harp, oud and charango. I hadn't played oud for a couple of years, and am smitten (in love) once again. Lemonade, I guess.

I have always found playing music to be the single most therapeutic experience one can have relative to recovery. I’ll always find a way.
