    Default The Band Jackstraw

Have folks heard of a Northwest group called Jackstraw? I watched them play live last evening with friends. Truly outstanding musicians, bluegrass performers.

I intended to mention the gentleman playing mandolin plays an exceptional Sullivan F5. The guitar player, also absolutely terrific, plays a Sullivan arch top that sounds like a Dread...kinda blew my mind. Tremendous..

Local legends. Guitarist Jon Neufeld made a guest appearance at Andrew Marlin's show in Portland this past weekend.

Indeed...every Tuesday night at the Laurelthirst Pub for only 18 years. Tremendous musicians. It's a great Tuesday night outing if you live in the area. Warm atmosphere, good pub food...

Yes, they're fantastic. Jon also plays/played with Black Prairie, another exceptional band, populated by Annalisa Tornfelt and members of the Decemberists.

I would have figured they were from Witchita.

    + 1. Big fan here.
And thankfully the Laurelthirst Pub (like the rest of Portland) went smoke-free a number of years ago...
