Default Andrew Marlin and Crew in Portland

Just curious if many folks saw Andrew and his crew in Portland Oregon a couple of nights ago. It was spectacular and they looked to be having a blast. The most fun I've had in awhile. Thanks guys, Eli, Andrew and all. Special.

I had every intention of being there, but spaced it. I was not very happy with myself. I did speak with a certain luthier from up that way who got to spend some time with Andrew after the show. There may even be some videos of what transpired around.

I was there. Actually, my whole family was there. It was a fantastic show.

    Jordan Tice was also great.

OK, what mandolin did Andrew play? Someone had to ask.

Great to hear it was such a good show. I’m really looking forward to seeing them in Sisters on Wednesday.

He played the Loar. And it was the most magical sound I've ever heard from a mandolin. We were right up front, so we were hearing the instruments themselves, as opposed to the mic'd sound (it's a very small venue).

Would have been nice to see you at the show Will. One of the best instrumental performances I've seen in a long time. Among other pieces, they played nearly all of the Buried in a Cape project. The instrumental compositions and arrangements on that album are so damn good - fun to hear them play it live. Eli, Christian and Andrew have some amazing chemistry. I got to go backstage with Matt Ruhland and talk and pick with Andrew. Very cool experience. Got to hear Andrew play my Ruhland F5 - he played a sweet little bluegrass waltz and I'm pretty sure he left some mojo in it. I got to play Andrew's Loar for a minute but one of the coolest things was watching Matt play that Loar and take mental notes on the tone and architecture of the instrument. Quite a fun night.
