Default Intervals/Scale Ricky Skagg's Breaks on J.D. Crowe & the New Sout

I hear Ricky playing scales during his breaks that sound like 3rd intervals. Could someone explain what he's playing? Thanking y'all in advance.

This is what he's probably doing - the basic variations of scales in 3rds.

    ASCENDING
    G-B . A-C . B-D . C-E . D-F# . E-g . F#-a . g

    DESCENDING
    g-b . F#-a . E-g . D-F# . ETC

you can have the 3rds go high>low while the whole scale sequence ascends or descends
    B-G . C-A . D-B . E-C ETC. or g-E . F#-D . E-C . D-B . C-A . B-A

or alternate ascending/descending groups of two note
    G-B . C-A . B-D . E-C . D-F#.

    B-G . A-C . D-B . C-E . etc.

I really dig this kind of stuff. It makes for great practice exercises and helps in building breaks.
