    Default Replacement for TI 154Ms

I'm returning to playing mandolin after several years off. I've learned the JM-11 strings are no longer in production and that TI 154Ms are, like, twice the price I used to pay. Any recommendations for flatwound strings like the TI 154 or JM-11?

My apologies if this has been discussed before. Redirection to other helpful threads is appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

The JM-11s disappeared several years ago. I’m not aware of anything other than the TIs but a few people who used to use the JM-11s on National RM mandolins seem to be using the d’Addario “Flat Tops”.

For fully flat-wound you could try the Dogal red tag flat-wound , or if you want a bit more oomph, you could try the flat topped Dogal HR136 set in 'forte', I had some of the mediums on a bowlback before I went for something a bit more clangy. I did have a G string loop failure on one of a set of the HR136, the replacement was fine.
