If you want to make carved style mandolins, I think you'll find that the wood sold for making violins is about the right size (not sure about the sides though). Touchstone Tonewoods sell it https://www.touchstonetonewoods.co.u...olin-tonewood/ but I'm sure there are others. If you want to make flatbacks, you can get two instruments out of a guitar set of back and sides.
