    Default Resonator Tenors...

    Hiya
We know Goldtone & Ozark made/make (respectively) resonator tenors. What are they like? Be honest!
Anyone able to compare them to a National?

    Audio demos?

I've had two Republic resonator guitars. One a Hwy 49 tenor and the other a Hwy 61 6 string. I've also owned two vintage National tenors and a newer National 6 string and a vintage Dobro. In addition, I have owned a number of resonator ukuleles and mandolins from a variety of manufacturers. In general, the Nationals are superior instruments in every respect. Some of the luthier built ukuleles that use National cones are great too, ie: MyaMoe and Big Rusty resonators.
The Chinese built instruments that use the "Continental" cone are typically weak sounding and are poorly finished.
The exception to the rule has been the Republic instruments. They are built in China and use the "continental" cone. Apparently, the Republic people have more control over the production.

Thanks Cornfield. I have a GT 25" scale. I thought it was a failed prototype having the wrong neck. Now I know they did offer the longer neck early on.

Don't know if this is any help, but here's the two tenor Nationals I have and their unique sound.
Vimeo videos don't always work on mandolincafe depending on browsers, by the way.... sorry!

I keep thinking about getting a Del Veccio Dināmico

not saved up the £800 + taxes that it would cost though....
