    Default For $300....would you?

Looking at a Kentucky KM-505 to compliment my KM-150. In great shape with a hard case. Out of state sale, can't play it beforehand but I have yet to see a crappy Kentucky, has a evaluation period.

    For $300, $325 shipped...would you?

It does sound like a good deal, on what is probably a pretty solid instrument, probably close to what you have now sonically. I'd play some instruments in the next category up, basic webers, flatirons, Collings, Girouards etc (if it were me) and see if it makes sense to wait for a good on deal something like one of those. Those will be quite a bit more I know, I'd just say try one before spending my money, to see if the extra cost might be worth it. Finding a shop with even a couple mandolins at that level can be tough, I know, may take a road trip to get to one.

If you like alternate tunings then definitely go for it, if not it's probably not necessary and you should save your money for a bigger jump. I've been lusting over the June A5 black top in the classifieds, and I don't even really like blacktops..... guess it's good I don't have money....

Yes I would. That's a good price on the KM-505 and it is a good upgrade from the KM-150.
KM-505 has Radiused ebony fretboard and bridge
KM-150 has flat rosewood fretboard and bridge

    KM-505 has Gotoh tuning machines
    KM-150 has generic tuning machines

Woods on the KM-505 are better quality and are hand carved.

I'd buy it and play them both side by side for a few weeks. You could get $250 - $300 for your KM-150 depending on condition. Or resell the KM-505 for more than $300 if it isn't to your liking.

Although it's a good deal, I'd pass. As others have said, save your money for a bigger upgrade. A Silverangel or Morris would probably serve you better, IMO.

I know it's tough to pass on really good deals. I've fallen for it many times.
