    Default Brescian/Cremonese mandola



    Most of the surviving instruments of this type (which are mandolins rather than mandolas) have tied frets, but some have fixed metal frets, which were perhaps added later. I usually use tied frets on my lutes and historical mandolins, but this customer wanted modern metal ones. All the woods used here are reclaimed from some wood which had sentimental value to the customer.
