Default Some help to value a couple of mandolins

    Hello everybody!

I recently took a hard decision, which is selling two mandolins that my father left me when he passed away. I'm not a string person, I do enjoy hitting some drums instead so I have zero knowledge about mandolins. I've done some research but I can't find the exact model of any of my mandolins and to be honest, because they are special to me, I don't want to sell them for less they could cost. I would appreciate some help with this so I can ask for a fair price, they both are in perfect conditions, all works properly but there's no information whatsoever inside or in other place of the instrument itself. I just can say that one is Vega but probably not an original one cause it looks way too new and a Richwood, I'm guessing that F-style model but nothing else.

    Thank you!

Oh wow I have no intentions of selling any of those here, I honestly just want to know their value cause I have no clue what I have.

I am not familiar with those specific instruments but they look like Asian made brands that aren't too recent. Maybe get up to $200 for the A style and maybe $300 for the F style. They may be worth more hanging on the wall to place in someone's hand and to remember your dad. Our classifieds are probably the most trafficked place for people who are seriously looking to buy a mandolin on the web. That said, once you decide to list them here, this discussion will be closed.

    Jamie, thank you!
That's my guess as well. The reason why I don't hang them is basically cause my father was an avid buyer and he left me way more than I can handle. I will keep some things for sure but these two will go.

    Thank you for your response

The Vega appears to be from the period when Galaxy Trading owned the brand. The instrument was most likely made in Korea or Japan.
Richwood is based in the Netherlands. Most of their instruments appear to be Asian made.

Yeah a friend of mine said exactly the same thing about Vega and I certainly have the same opinion.

I didn't know that Richwood was based in the Netherlands, good to know cause I'm currently living there, maybe I can find out some more information in the country!

    Thank you!
