Thread: Fretboard Journal still active?

    Default Fretboard Journal still active?

About a year ago, I bought a 3-year subscription to Fretboard Journal. I recieved two issues. In September I emailed them to convey that I had not received a fall issue. I was told it was not out yet, but that I would receive one soon. Last week, I was thinking, "still haven't gotten it; I should email again." Then the other day, I got a notice that my subscription had expired. I emailed them on Monday, but still no response. Has anyone else been having trouble with FJ?

Just the opposite, I've moved several times over the years and have had Jason Verlinde reach out to me to confirm addresses. It does take them a while to put together new issues and so the timing of delivery becomes when it gets there, but that is always a special day. You might call them directly or use the online contact form, I've had good responses both ways.

We are still very much in business... and I apologize for the long wait between issues 44 and 45. We took a little longer than usual and then switched printers (this time to one finally in the USA) and with that came the usual headaches of formatting snafus, new mailer creation, etc. The surprises never stop. Anyhow... it will get mailed in the next 10 days to everyone and, in the meantime, we have a boatload of free content on our website, the podcasts, new videos, etc.

If you emailed our customer service line, you'll probably hear from us today. Our helper was out yesterday ... sorry.

Wonderful. Thanks for the information. I will try to be patient. I love the magazine and was hoping that there is no problem.

I don’t get the magazine, though I’ve seen them over the years and they are super nice. (I used to love magazines but somewhere along the way stopped getting them—probably another casualty of the smartphone.)

But I want to chime in and praise the FBJ podcast and the Luthier On Luthier podcast that’s associated with it. Truly great stuff that I enjoy a lot. The episode with Jayne Henderson on the FBJ podcast was particularly good.

The article on the restoration of the first F5 Loar was super. Enjoy each issue, but usually only buy when there is mandolin content I am interested in.

I've been subscribing for a while now and, personally, find FBJ's customer service to be outstanding. Jason and the other staff are always quick to reply to my questions (mainly trying to remember when I need to renew).
