Thread: Broadway mandolin

    Default Broadway mandolin

I have started to shape the neck but I have a quick question if I may? Are there ideal neck thicknesses, 1st fret and say near the body. I am working from the old Siminoff book and have been sticking roughly to those thicknesses - but I wonder if there is any new thinking in this regard?

Make the neck comfortable for you. If you have a truss rod it can be more shallow. I like a shallow rounded neck, tho I also play a V neck with no problem.
