Default Red Haired Boy - Did Monroe ever record a version?

I’ve looked all over and this appears to be a fiddle tune he never played — or at least never recorded. Would love to hear his take on it, though, so hoping someone will prove me wrong and post a link!

Never heard Mr. Monroe play it, but Mike Compton played a tune with John Heartford called Shove That Pig’s Foot Further in the Bed that had some similarities on the Down From the Mountain CD. I would imagine a Monroe version of Red Haired Boy might sound like it.

If you're just looking for a good version for mandolin, On Brian Bower's "View From Home" album is a really good version on mandolin. Brian plays autoharp. You can get it on Itunes. I think playing is by Sam Bush
