    Maybe it's me...

Maybe it's the fact that I've only been playing a couple of years and my speed is not up to the level of some of the bluegrass out there. One thing that I have learned is that a originally fast paced bluegrass song can take on a whole new life of it's own when played melodically and slower.

I do hope my speed picks up but for now, I am enjoying what I got. Here's an example of "letting a mandolin sing" instead of being like the speed metal of bluegrass...

This Sorenson sounds pretty awesome to me. Wish it was me in the video....but alas, it's not.

    Enjoy:

That was “How Great Thou Art”. Nicely done whoever it was.

I agree with you. Its not just because I am not fast; I don't really enjoy bluegrass mandolin played so fast you can't pick out the melody. I guess some equate speed with virtuosity, but I like my music to sound good

I felt like that was a perfect speed for that tune. An outstandingly done old hymn.

Good stuff. What's not to like.

I think it is appealing because it celebrates the tune, and not the player. It says "here is a wonderful tune I can make pretty, don't you love it" as opposed to "here is my wonderful playing, ain't I sumptin?"

Really nice, thanks, would anyone one be kind enough to share the TAB?
Yes it is much harder to play a solid rhythm slow than fast.
    Good job!
