Earlier this year I did a six strand braid with leather strips. It is without a doubt the most comfortable mandolin strap I have tried. That round brains with no inside flexes nicely and cushions where it lays. You might want to look for a nice round braid and try it.

My favorite is the thin braided Hines Strap - kanga leather from Down Under. I think Carmel Music in CA still carries them - not cheap, but lasts forever. G

Last pic shows a replacement loop I installed. Not pretty but functional.

I use a guitar strap with a small loop of leather through the scroll. The leather is done up either a button I use to attach the strap.
