    Default Cafe blog rules?

Ok, so I've been loosely considering starting a blog, and I'm just wondering about the possibility of using the mandolincafe blogs. I'm wondering what are the blog rules about what's permissible? If I started a blog, it would not be exclusively music centered, and could contain anything from mandolin advice, workout thoughts, and possibly an occasional "religious" comment (I don't like that word though) would that be ok or are these blogs supposed to be specifically mandolin?
    Thanks

I would think that the posting guidelines would still apply. You could send Scott Tichenor a PM and inquire.

The blogs are fun. I use them to write out my lengthy responses to common questions we get, and then in the particular thread I can reference the blog pertinent to that issue.

Great thread. I’ve wondered about this very topic.

I would think that, but that doesn't answer whether non mandolin topics are ok? I'll PM him as soon as someone explains how to do so?

    Go to:

    https://www.mandolincafe.com/forum/m...Scott-Tichenor

Look on the left side for Send Private Message.

If you need help beyond that let me know.

Forum guidelines and rules apply to all posts, blogs, calendars, social groups, file storage, etc, even PMs though we don't read those, but if someone abuses the guidelines via PM and it is forwarded to us we will take action. We are pretty tolerable until the point resources are used outside of the Guidelines. There are plenty of examples of non-music topics here and we're OK with that unless they run afoul of the Guidelines. I'd strongly suggest if anyone has doubt to read those and ask if still unclear.

Please do not contact me through my 'Scott Tichenor' account. Contact me via 'Mandolin Cafe' or click on the account name on the left and send PM. Sorry, I'm the only person allowed two user names out here. I make the rules, I pay the bills. My name was originally used as the first user name created and is the Super Administrator account and can't be removed--or likely could be but I don't care enough to figure out how. I use 'Mandolin Cafe' as the work account and 99.99% of all Cafe business so please contact me there. I rarely even look at the account with my name, only when people send me messages through it. I should turn that off, and could, but folks would not understand so I live with it.

I agree and would add that the blog offers the same as the guidlines, which to me offers a chance to speak as a musician. So other topics that enter the blog come as a musician would address religion, politics and even sex. But only in a superficial way. The blog and everything on MandolinCafe should be about mandolins, music and musicians. And as in all social situations e.g. in person, face to face, you will be told when you have said something irregular or offensive.

Ok thanks everyone, I may or may not start a blog, but I wanted to know in advance about everything. This would probably be the easiest platform to start one. And while I wouldn't post anything intentionally inappropriate, or offensive, some aspects of "religious" would be likely to come up occasionally since it's a big part of my life. Anyway, I'll keep thinking about it

The new Forum software we've been working on for months now--things haven't gone well with the company that provides our platform so taking a lot longer than it should--will have a more visible presence for blogs. Right now I can't say they are but regardless, part of the long-term success is each individual's ability to promote their own blogs through links in the signature or external/social media, etc.
