Thread: Wrinkling purfling

    Default Wrinkling purfling

First time using plastic binding and purling.. Using a .020 purling acetoned to .080 binding. When bending the tight curves, the purling wrinkles. Any suggestions to solve the problem.

Is it delaminating? Are you heating it enough? In some tight bends it is easier to bend strips alone and laminate right on the instrument.
    Please post pics...

It helps to only heat the outside of the binding, so the outside layer will stretch but the purfling will resist compressing. Also try using as little heat as possible to get the job done.
